The Black-breasted Hillstar (Oreotrochilus melanogaster) is a hummingbird in the subfamily Lesbiinae (coquettes and brilliants), tribe Lesbiini (coquettes). It weighs about 9.1 g and its bill is 23.1 mm long. It is found only in Peru. Its IUCN Red List status is Least concern, with a stable population.
